The Order of the Hatchet
The Order of the Hatchet
In 1149 the city of Tortosa was conquered by Count Berenguer from the Muslims. After the army left to conquer other towns, Tortosa was left vulnerable to counter attack. In a desperate attempt to defend the city, all its remaining inhabitants took up arms to fight back the attack, including the women. Arming themselves with whatever weapons they could find, and using whatever armor was left behind, the women took part in a successful defense of the city. Count Berenguer was so impressed that he established an honorific order which afforded them extra privileges. This set represents these women.
If you only want a few female figures for your forces then you can select either 4 or 8 figures and you'll get a random selection with shields and weapons (we recommend brass spears though), or you can just have the 'Got your Back' diorama of a woman defending another, or you can have the entire collection!
